How to Join the Athenas

The Athena Women's Chorus is open only to current members of the Los Angeles Athletic Club. The size of the choir is capped at 60 members.

Prospective members must audition with the music director, and are invited to participate based on available openings and the vocal needs of the group. There is currently a waiting list to audition.

Requirements include:

• Athena dues are $7 per month and are collected year-round, added to members' LAAC monthly bill.

• Athena members are expected to faithfully attend rehearsals. 

  • No more than four absences per season are permitted.  

  • Rehearsals are held throughout two seasons each year: February–June and September–December. 

  • Rehearsals are Tuesdays, 6:30-8 p.m. with rotating section rehearsals (soprano/mezzo/alto) starting at 6 p.m. Rehearsals are in the 4th floor in the Victory Ballroom unless otherwise announced. 

• Attend both annual concerts (December and June). Choir members must purchase at least one meal ticket for each concert/buffet. 

• Members are also encouraged to invite family and friends to attend concerts.
